TMAC Awards
Celebrating the best in travel writing and photography
 

As of the 2008 TMAC Awards (presented at the 2009 AGM in Richmond, B.C. on Fri., Feb. 6, 2009), the operation of the awards has been brought in-house. This enables TMAC to standardize both the prizes and the criteria by which entries in all categories are judged. Our aim is to ensure that, inside the association and out in the world, our awards are seen as being professionally conferred prizes that honour the best writing and photography our members have to offer.

The judges are journalism professionals who have many years’ experience as working writers or photographers and are highly regarded by their peers.

For the written categories the judges base their choices on an entry’s writing quality, accuracy and usefulness of information, insightfulness and innovation. For the photography categories the submissions are judged on composition, technical quality and ability to evoke a place, moment or sentiment.
