Awards
Celebrating the best in travel writing and photography
The TMAC Awards honours members for the best writing and
photography. With nine writing categories and three photography
categories, entries are aplenty and we really put our third-party
judges to work in selecting the winners.
Each winner receives a certificate and a cheque for $1,000 and, for
the first time, will also be eligible for travel assistance to the
2013 TMAC Conference & AGM with a value of up to $500.
This year, we’re pleased to announce that a new category has been
added to the list – Best Story about Travel in Canada. To qualify
for this award, stories must focus on Canada, its cities or regions
as a travel destination. They should create a compelling sense of
place that may inspire a reader to visit the destination or, at the
very least, to learn more about it.
The awards will be presented at the closing gala of the TMAC
Conference & AGM in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on Saturday, May 5,
2012.
The work will be judged on writing quality, accuracy and
usefulness of information, insightfulness and innovation:

The purpose of this restriction is to focus on stories where the
writing quality and the strength of the narrative are the two key
elements, so that the judging may be done uniformly across all
entries.
