NEW YORK – This year, the International Culinary Center (ICC) celebrates its 100th Canadian graduate. To mark this milestone, the renowned school extended a special scholarship program to Canadian students for up to $5,000 toward their studies in Professional Culinary Arts or Professional Pastry Arts, or up to $2,500 toward the Intensive Sommelier Training program. They are also extending an open invitation to qualified media members of the Travel Media Association of Canada to book a visit to either their campus in New York City or their Silicon Valley location in California.

Founded by Dorothy Cann Hamilton in 1984 as The French Culinary Institute, ICC is known for its fast-track, total Immersion education, and has trained famous chefs such as Bobby Flay, Christina Tosi, David Chang and Dan Barber. Closer to home, Canadian ICC grads include Chopped Canada winner Pierre Lamielle, Jeffery Finkelstein, owner of Hof Kelsten bakery, and Canadian Living Food Specialist Jennifer Bartoli. The school’s staff of deans and instructors includes world-class chefs like Jacques Pépin, Jacques Torres and José Andrés, and the school is located in the heart of the chic neighborhood of Soho. Recently the school hosted a group of chefs from Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton region for a customized culinary skills program, a visit facilitated in part by the region’s tourism bureau.

“Our award-winning education is techniques-based, which opens the door to cooking all different styles of cuisine,” explains Randi MacColl, ICC’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We encourage TMAC media members to contact us if they are planning to be in the New York City or Silicon Valley areas. ICC will happily provide a tour, facilitate interviews and even offer the chance to observe ICC classes in action.”
