February 2004 - Toronto Entertainment District

TMAC members were introduced to the Toronto Entertainment District by way of an an event held at Wayne Gretsky's restaurant on February 2, 2004. The "Munch & Mingle" took place in the heart of what the Toronto Entertainment District Association (TEDA) fondly calls "The District". Hosts of the evening were members of The Toronto Entertainment District Association (TEDA), a volunteer based association founded in 1993. It is comprised of over 200 area businesses committed to the development of marketing programs and promotion to both Toronto inhabitants and tourists. The volunteers are united by their interest in promoting and developing the Toronto Entertainment District as North America's most uniquely diverse Entertainment destination and neighbourhood.

"The District" boasts hundreds of incredible restaurants, bistros, cafes, nightclubs, art galleries, boutiques, sporting and concert facilities, first class shopping, patios and pubs, live theatre, hotels, attractions and movie theatres. It is undisputedly the heart and soul of downtown Toronto: spanning from borders of Queen St. west to the north; York Street to the east; The Gardener expressway to the south, and Spadina Ave. to the west.

The Entertainment District is home to thousands of residents and a day- time home to thousands of employees who work in the core of the city.

Journalists are encouraged to take advantage of TEDA's ability to assit you with story development. The association has access to many contacts in the field of cuisine, entertainment, hotels, lifestyle, sports and so much more.
