Two TMAC Alberta-NWT industry members (Heritage Park [Barb Munro] & Hotel Arts [Fraser Abbott]) collected a total of five White Hat awards at the 53rd annual Calgary White Hat Awards.

Held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and hosted by Tourism Calgary, the Calgary White Hat Awards celebrate the best in hospitality and provide annual recognition of the many impactful individuals and organizations within the tourism and hospitality industry. 

Heritage Park won the White Hat Award for the Best Festival/Event/Attraction for the 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2014. For the first time ever, this award was a tie with the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon also winning for Best Event. Heritage Park’s year-long 50th anniversary celebration, which brought in a record number of visitors, and included the opening of the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women, was recognized as having made a significant and recognizable contribution to the industry in Calgary.

President and CEO of Heritage Park, Alida Zisbach was the recipient of the Mayor’s White Hat of the Year Award. This award honours an individual who has made a significant and recognizable contribution to the tourism industry in Calgary. Alida was recognized for her 32-year commitment to the tourism industry and her leadership role at Heritage Park; in her work to grow the Park from 65 acres to 127, making the Park a year-round attraction, and creating legacy exhibits such as Gasoline Alley Museum and the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women. 

David Carpenter took home the White Hat Award for Best Server in the category of Banquets/Catering.

      

The hospitality and tourism industries exude the highest of expectations in performance standards, quality operations and most importantly – customer service. And it’s no secret that Hotel Arts is more than delighted to celebrate the accomplishments of its staff and the industry!

Rebekah Götze won the White Hat award in the Brasserie/Bistro category as part of Raw Bar by Duncan Ly.

Kim Wong took home the White Hat for Best Restaurant Support: Non Server for her hard work at Yellow Door Bistro.
